Week of 9/13-17

This past week we started all of our reading, math, writing and science curriculum. It has been an exciting week for the children!

In reading, we started reading stories daily and a review of the alphabet from kindergarten. We have been busy learning center routines and in a few weeks we will begin guided reading. Please continue to practice bear belt words with your child daily!

In math, we started our first unit. This unit is on patterning and number sense. This is a short unit and will be tested very soon!
In science we will be learning about weather and kinds of weather.

Sorry that this post is late! I was in Texas visiting my new nephew! Have a great week!

Bus Safety Unit

We just finished a unit on bus safety! The students were very knowledgeable of how to stay safe on the bus! I was impressed! We wrote some bus safety rules together and then we colored, cut and glued a bus together. Talk to your child about what they think the most important bus safety rule would be!

Hopes and Dreams

Last week we spent a lot of time discussing our Hope and Dreams for the school year. All of the students set AMAZING goals for themselves! Thank you for setting goals for your child! We will revisit these goals throughout the school year!

I feel it is really important to get goals and at the end of the year we will look at these goals again and see if we accomplished them or not!

I developed a bulletin board for our Hopes and Dreams and the students drew an illustration of their Hope and Dream. Their illustration is now on the bulletin board! The students were really excited to see them when they came into the classroom this morning!

First Week!

Thank you so much for sending me such wonderful children! I hope the first week of school has been enjoyable for your child. We have been busy getting to know one another and learning rules and routines and meeting new friends.

We worked on our Hopes and Dreams for the school year. Many students came up with great goals for the school year. After we discussed our Hopes and Dreams we drew a picture of them. These pictures will be on our classroom bulletin board and will be revisited many times during the school year.

We will be going outside for recess as the weather allows, please make sure that your child has a coat or jacket everyday in case they need it.

We will begin the reading curriculum next week as well as math. Please check your child's folder daily. Look for important papers and their work. Talk to your child about their day, they love it when you get excited about their day!

Next Weeks Special Schedule:

Monday: Day 5-Gym
Tuesday: Day 6-Music
Wednesday: Day 1-Gym
Thursday: Day 2-Art
Friday: Day 3-Gym

Thanks for sending me such wonderful children! Thank you for your support this first week. I look forward to spending more time with your precious cargo!
